December 19, 2010  Make That The Ninth Festival!

We just returned from a great day at the Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival in Santa Monica!

The biggest crowds of the festival showed up today, in a very un-Southern California torrential rain, and saw the screening of The Girl, The City, The Magi (a bedtime story).  We were thrilled to join numerous other filmmakers who presented their films, took questions and shared their experiences.

To cap of the day, at the end of the screening we were approached by the director of the San Francisco International Children's Film Festival, who invited us to screen at their festival on the weekend of April 1, 2011 at WonderCon in San Francisco.  How fun!

In all, a great day at a great festival in Los Angeles!

November 2, 2010  Our Eighth Film Festival!

We couldn't be happier to announce that The Girl, The City, The Magi (a bedtime story) has been accepted into the 6th Annual Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival!

The Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival is a celebration of children's films, with more than 150 films for children and teens screened in November and December at various L.A. venues, along with workships and special guests.  The festival is run by professional filmmakers, animators, writers and visual arts educators (including working pros from Dreamworks and Pixar), all volunteers, many of whom are also parents and teachers.  The festival offers a great opportunity to screen in the center of the entertainment industry, and we're really happy to be involved with it!

The Film will screen on the weekend of December 17-19, 2010 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Theater in Santa Monica, CA.  Check the Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival website at www.lachildrensfilm.org for more details!

June 27, 2010  OUR FAVORITE MOVIE REVIEW … EVER.

Today’s a busy day for news.  In addition to our acceptance into the Rome Int’l Film Festival, we also heard great things from the Animazing Spotlight.

The Animazing Spotlight is a film festival that screens short animated pieces (12 minutes or less) before “an international panel of animation experts” and passes on their comments and criticism to the filmmakers.  We’re proud to say that the film was very well received.

Our favorite comment came from Frank Mouris, a long-time animator and the director/producer of what has been referred to as the “most celebrated American short” film, Frank Film.

Mr. Mouris had this to say about The Girl, The City, The Magi (a bedtime story):

“This is a full-blown professional triumph. Wonderful visuals. Strong content in a story set and sung well to good music. Good character design and animation.  Great color scheme. Can't wait to see your next film.”

Much thanks to Mr. Mouris and Animazing Spotlight for letting us share this quote.  We’re blushing.

June 27, 2010  THE ROME INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

OK, make that a good month.

We’re going to be showing our film in Rome!  Rome, Georgia, that is, at the Rome International Film Festival.

This great little festival has just announced that The Girl, The City, The Magi (a bedtime story) will screen at the festival on September 11, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the historic DeSoto Theatre in downtown Rome, Georgia, the premiere venue of the festival.

The Rome International Film Festival was selected as one of "20 film festivals worth the entry fee," by MovieMaker Magazine. In 2009, they screened 88 films from 20 countries. We’re thrilled to be joining their ranks this year.

June 21, 2010   HELLO WASHINGTON, D.C.

My, it’s been a good week!

The DC Shortsfest just contacted us, with news that The Girl, The City, The Magi (a bedtime story) will screen at their festival in Washington, D.C. in September.

Now in its 7th year, DC Shorts has been named by MovieMaker Magazine as “one of the nation’s leading short film festivals,” and was named “Best Festival” by Washington City Paper.  Last year, the DCShortsfest received over 750 submissions from 32 nations.

We’re told that the festival was even bigger and more competitive this year, so our acceptance feels very special.  We’re really impressed with the way the festival is run, and are excited to attend in September.

June 15, 2010            THE LA SHORTSFEST

More good news!

We've just received notification that the film has been accepted into the 14th Annual LAShortsfest, and that it will have its Los Angeles premiere at the festival, sometime between July 22 and July 30, 2010.

The LA Shortsfest is "The Largest Short Film Festival in the World," and was attended last year by more than 7,000 movie-goers, filmmakers and entertainment professionals (including Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Courteney Cox and Scarlett Johansson).

More importantly, the festival has been officially recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, and has screened 33 Academy nominated shorts and 11 Oscar Winners.

June 6, 2010   WE’RE GOING TO COMIC-CON

We just received confirmation that the The Girl, The City, The Magi (a bedtime story) has been accepted into the San Diego International Children's Film Festival.

While the acceptance into the festival is an honor in and of itself, we’ve also been given the additional honor of screening at the festival’s premiere exhibition space.  The film will screen at this year's Comic-Con International in San Diego on July 25, 2010.

To quote the acceptance e-mail, "Comic-Con is the largest popular culture convention in the world, with more than 140,000 visitors over four days at the San Diego Convention Center.  It is also the premier global promotional showcase for upcoming major studio releases."

We like to think of it as the locale of our favorite Entourage episode ... but that's just us ("Victory!").

March 16, 2010   OUR (KIDS)FIRST FILM FESTIVAL

We’ve just been informed that The Girl, The City, The Magi (a bedtime story) has been accepted into the prestigious KIDSFIRST Film Festival!

Now in its eleventh year, the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival is a showcase for children's films, TV shows and DVDs from major studios and independent filmmakers. The festival partners with more than 150 venues worldwide who host more than 10,000 screenings of KIDS FIRST! films year-round to an audience of more than one million.

The festival is sponsored by, amongst others: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Warner Bros., HBO Family Channel, and the Smithsonian Channel.

The KIDS FIRST jury had the following praise for The Girl, The City, The Magi (a bedtime story):

"What a fun film! Narrated in iambic pentameter verse, this is a sure to tickle your funny bone kind of title that offers good talking points for young girls."

We thank them for their kind comments! Being accepted into their festival is a great honor, of which we’re quite proud.
